Are you looking for an unusual way to raise money for a nonprofit organization you run, work for, volunteer for, or care about? Are you looking to raise awareness of that organization in the local or regional community? Are you looking to honor or to thank your staff? Your clients? Your board members? Your investors? Your donors? Are you looking to celebrate your beneficiaries?
Breaking bread together, you can raise funds and rally support for a cause in a uniquely satisfying way.
If your non-profit organization is seeking to host a special event built around a delicious restaurant meal, that can also serve as a fundraiser, The Elephant Walk in Waltham’s Monday Benefit Dinner Program might just be the perfect opportunity for you.
If you and your friends, or you and your business are seeking to host a special event to raise funds for a charity or nonprofit organization, a Monday Benefit Dinner is an excellent way to bring people together for your chosen cause.
We strongly encourage you to invite guest speakers and prepare audio/visual materials including Powerpoint presentations to educate, inform, and entertain your guests. Seize this opportunity to add value to the evening with topical, multi-media content.
To maximize the benefit to your chosen nonprofit, we encourage you to solicit additional donations from your attendees as well.
We will work with you to create and serve a three course prix-fixe menu tailored to your event, modeled after our standard 3 course tasting/prix-fixe menu, including coffee and tea service.
We will strongly encourage you to choose the following, based on our extensive experience with what works well for large groups: Starter/appetizer course should be pre-ordered and served automatically as the group is seated to “get things moving,” making sure that the hungry arrivals have something delicious to eat immediately while choosing their main and dessert courses.
We offer you the option of adding a passed hors d’oeuvres course for an additional $5 per person, bringing the per person event cost to $40. We also offer you the option of adding both passed hors d’oeuvres and a first drink [a glass of wine or a pint or bottle of beer] for an additional $10 per person.
We’ve learned that just about everyone has different habits and preferences when it comes to choosing a beverage – and how much of it – to enjoy with a meal. Accordingly, this program requires a cash bar, where people choose and pay for their own beverages – except for coffee and tea, which are included in the food price - at the event.
The Elephant Walk charges all attendees in advance for the menu chosen in advance by the event’s organizer, including tax and gratuity. We then remit to the beneficiary 50% of the total food and beverage revenue for the event [with the meals tax going to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and the gratuity going to the service staff]. Be or seek to benefit a "non-polarizing,” registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization
> A registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization will have a current listing at Guidestar.org or a more recent IRS 501(c)(3) determination letter.
> A “non-polarizing” non-profit is an organization whose cause is not a divisive social issue. We seek to support organizations that have not inspired visible enemies or active protest movements, that are not highly controversial. Why this restriction? We seek to actively avoid upsetting people and provoking them to oppose our business. Thus we will avoid donating to those causes we feel might do that.
